For blades that refers to (or) you may choose the blade size based on the closeness of the cut you desire. The higher the blade number the closer the trim will be.

What is the difference between the #5 and the #5FC blade?
A.
The difference between these blades is that the FC (finish cut) is for coats without mats. This blade is the finish cut blade, and it works best on clean coats. The #5 blade will work on heavier coats, and coats with a small number of mats.
