My 13 year old dog was diagnosed with early stages of kidney failure two years ago at the age of 11. In addition to a restricted prescription diet, my vet suggested to supplement with Epakitin. In the two years since the diagnosis and starting the epakitin, my dog's condition has remained stable. My vet recently also suggested adding Azydol, also non-Rx and available from DrsFosterSmith. Thus far the kidney disease has not progressed.

I was worried that this would taste bad like every other medicine I've tried to give my dog but it must not cause my dog doesn't notice it in her food. It dissolves well & is easy to use. Not sure if it's being effective as far as her kidney condition & the phosphorus but it's bound to be helping since that's what it's for.

I use this for my little guy in renal failure. It was suggested for use by his veterinarian. He takes it readily. Does it help? The jury is still out on that but anything that might help prolong his life is worth trying!!

After my dog Maddy was diagnosed with a kidney problem, it was recommended that I start using epakitin in her food. I had to change her diet plus add epakitin. I do mix it in her canned food and she has accepted it without problems.
I decided to purchased the 180 grams container because it would save me money compared to what was charged at the vets office.
