Great Fountain with some problems
We have owned 3 Drinkwell Regular Fountains which all of our cats over the years (probably18 or so cats over time) have loved to drink from and have remained well hydrated from the Reverse Osmosis filtered water that we use in the machine. One of our rescued cats had a history of urinary issues with the previous owner, but this cat has never had an issue. We attribute this to the Drinkwell enticing him to drink more of the good water.
Problems with the machine are two fold: noisy motor unlike the first two Drinkwells, and secondly, getting the motor out to clean the machine which must be done on a weekly basis. The motor hum was so loud that I was tempted to send the machine back or put it in the basement as far away from us as I could. But then I went to the manufacturer's web site and read that one had to lubricate the pin inside of the motor. and push the impeller solidly back into the motor area. We had always lubed the impeller but pulled this one out anyway and poured olive oil into the pin area that holds the impeller. Then we drained the extra from the motor, and NO MORE NOISE!!!!
Apparently a light coat of olive oil does not work so if you have a very loud humming or buzzing from your motor (impeller), be generous with the olive oil.
The second problem of easily getting the motor out remains an unsolved mystery all these years. They suggest using Vaseline to coat the area that twists into the plastic casing to position the motor.. We have always used olive oil here as well, so next time we will try the Vaseline. It is hard on the fingers to twist the motor out of the base for cleaning. A change in design would be most welcomed.

This product has been an excellent addition in caring for our cat.
Our cat refused to drink standing water so we always had to turn on a faucet for her. The day we hooked up the fountain she drank out of it immediately and has never shown an interest in the faucet since that day.

I LIKE IT VERY MUCH I ONLY WISH I HAD RELIZED HOW BIG IT IS I WOULD HAVE ORDERED A SMALLER ONE MY DOG COULD TAKE A BATH IN THIS ONE BUT SHE LOVE IT JUST SAME

This is a quality fountain that has lasted years. Honey (my domestic short hair) has loved it! I know when I upgrade, we can expect the same quality!
I hve had no problems or issues with the fountain at all. I would recommend this to any cat parent!
