Hurtta Cooling Coat Color: Lilac Size: 16 inch
I followed the size guidelines and got the largest one for my 90lb boxer with 36" chest, 22" neck and 24" back length and it fits her very well. It's a little hard to wring out to 'no drips' because it's big, so next time I'll soak with outside hose instead of kitchen sink. The dog has to step into it with the left front paw, but the opening is large so if your dog is relatively calm, it should be no problem. The neck and chest adjustments work well. She licked the wet coat for the first few seconds but I think she realized how nice it felt and walked off. It was late afternoon, 80 degrees and 42% humiditiy. Usually she'd be panting with dry tongue in less than 5 min. She was out for 40 minutes and no panting, and seemed very happy! Usually over 65 degrees and she is hot in a few minutes. I love that she is more comfy now and can spend more time with us and our other dog outside.

Cooling Coat = Cools
Two points: (1) effectiveness, and (2) length of time it stayed damp. Wearing the moistened cooling coat, my year old standard poodle, Meko, and I walk started our one hour walk about 3:00 pm to the vet. The temperature was 74 degrees, the relative humidity was 32 degrees, the wind 9 mph, and the sun low on the horizon. Meko smiled during our walk, but her tongue was not hanging long. She exhibited lots of energy. When we arrived, I offered her water, but she didn’t want any. The coat across her back was dry. However, the ends of the coat that hung off her hips was damp, and the bib under her chest was still wet. (It did not have tight contact with her body like the coat across the back.) However the wet bib kept her quite cool. The vet applied FrontLine tick treatment across her shoulders and suggested she walk home without her coat. The temperature was 75, relative humidity was 31, and wind 7 mph. It was 5:00 PM. As soon as we started our return trip, Meko’s tongue hung long. She was happy, but panting. About five blocks from home on our hour-long walk, Meko stopped at a shady, grassy lawn to cool off and beg a drink of water. She definitely had less energy without the cool coat. I heartily recommend this cool coat. But I’ll plan to re wet it during our two hour walks.

Works well not just for active dogs but senior dogs who still love to go for their walks.
Do not typically comment on products but will for this. Have a rescue Bichon at least 13 years old with allergies and few extra pounds! Loves his walks but doesn't like to compromise on his usual distance even in the heat. Have been breaking him in with the cooling vest on his afternoon walk. He is able to go his usual distance, may need one drink of water and arrives home tired but not wasted from the heat. His body is still cool from the vest. Have not yet had super hot days so can't comment on how long the vest will work in intense heat, but it certainly has improved the quality of walks for my buddy. Would expect to use in the summer for a short afternoon walk and a longer evening walk when the heat is still coming up from the concrete and blacktop.Considering that usage alone, the product is most cost effective. With good care some breeds live a long life and as the dog ages, products like this help to promote their comfort and quality of life. Please encourage the manufacturer to expand the sizes available. The little guys are low to the ground and this can be really helpful in the hot months. Thanks for offering it.
