Adjustable collar lets you secure a correct, comfortable fit that minimizes stress
Choose the Bite Free recovery e-collar for dogs and let the healing begin! This popular collar gently helps to protect wounds without impeding peripheral vision. This cervical collar is fully adjustable, so you can provide a correct fit to minimize pet stress. This means your dog stays comfortable even if the collar is needed for several weeks. Your pet can easily lie down, sleep, eat and drink while wearing the collar. Use it post surgery, with injuries, or while letting hotspots heal. For active dogs prone to running and jumping, this collar comes with removable chest stabilization straps that allow plenty of action with no compromise in protection. Collar can be trimmed for a custom fit, too. During use, periodically check area under collar for any signs of irritation.
Note: While this collar works extremely well for many dogs, it may still be possible for some dogs to get at a wound, no matter what type of collar they are wearing. All dogs wearing collars should be monitored several times an hour until wounds are fully healed. If medical procedures have been performed on the dog's fore leg and feet, tail, or facial area and ears, we would not recommend the Bite Free, as the dog's muzzle could more easily reach those affected areas.

Use Instructions
Open the collar with foam side up. There are two Velcro® straps 3/4" in width on each side of the collar (except on the 2.5" width, 12-16" collar), and one 1" Velcro® strap in the center of the collar.
Place the Bite Free collar around your pet's neck, foam side against the neck. Correct fit should be from the base of the skull, to where the neck meets the shoulder area. Bring both ends of the collar toward each other. Using the 1" wide strap attach that to the Velcro® at other end of the collar, not too tight. Next, attach the two 3/4" straps to their Velcro®. You can now adjust for tightness. We suggest that you adjust the collar to leave enough room to slip your index finger between the pet's neck and collar.
When the collar is fitted correctly, it should be extremely difficult for the pet’s muzzle to reach any section of the body behind the neck area. We suggest you measure the distance from the base of the skull to junction of neck and shoulder, then select the width and size of the Bite Free that meets those dimensions. Please check to see that the collar is not too tight on your pet. A daily check of the fit of the collar is recommended. It may still be possible for some dogs to get at a wound, no matter what type of collar they are wearing. All dogs wearing collars should be monitored several times an hour until wounds are fully healed.
Should your pet be small, or very large, the stabilization chest strap can be beneficial in maintaining correct fit and function. Your veterinarian or tech can advise you regarding use of the chest strap. You have the option of removing the strap from the collar, if desired.
If you use the chest strap, be sure you keep the male and female attachments at the top of the pet's shoulder, so your pet can lie down in comfort. To adjust the tightness of the chest strap, place the male and female connecting parts at the top of the pet's shoulder and tighten until you can slip your index finger under the strap. Obviously, each dog and cat has a different body conformation, so please adjust tightness accordingly to provide a comfortable fit. Bite Free may be washed in warm water with soap, but do not use bleach.
