Iris Litter Pan Open Top
Just what I needed
My previous box was too small, and my cat would throw litter all over the floor. Now the cat and I are both happy.

Inexpensive, and solves my problems beautifully
I bought the Iris litter pan, open top with shield, hoping to avoid finding that the litter box was sitting in a pool of stale cat pee, nearly every time I went to change it. Saw plenty of reviews that mentioned this shield prevented cats from kicking litter out of the box -- didn't see any reviews that mentioned that it prevented pee from getting outside the box when kitties don't squat enough. But after nearly a month of use, I'm pleased to report that it's been completely effective on that front.
Was looking for a not-huge box, and this fits the bill perfectly. Not too small for my 16-pound cat -- both cats are happy with this. And the open top makes it easy to check the state of the box and to scoop solid waste once or twice daily -- much more convenient than my other covered box.
Other folks took issue with the fact that the bottom of this box isn't flat, but with non-clumping litters (I use Feline Pine), this hasn't been an issue at all. Very pleased with this purchase.

I bought two of these litter pans with the side shields for my messy litter box kitties (one in particular). I'm very pleased with them and have ordered two additional pans for backup. A great product at a great price!

Tall cats can't be happier
I have tall cats, and the Iris pans with the side attachment shield but open at the top are now the most frequently used boxes... I have four cats, three are rather tall as cats go, and the lidded boxes , while the are nice because they have the "deoderizer" option are not designed for cats that are 23 to 25 inches long, not including tail and stand 18 to 20 inches at the shoulder, not including neck and head, so not having to almost lay down to pee or poo has made them extremely happy cats... I will probably be replacing the other two covered boxes with these.
