KMR® 2nd Step Kitten Weaning Food has been formulated to meet the nutritional needs of young kittens being weaned from their mother, or bottle-fed kittens progressing to solid foods. For best results, the product should be mixed with ready to feed liquid KMR Milk Replacer (item #1162) or reconstituted powder KMR Milk Replacer (item #193) to give the consistency necessary to get good food consumption. KMR 2nd Step Weaning Food should be lapped out of a bowl. If KMR is not available, water may be used. It is recommended that KMR 2nd Step Kitten Weaning Food be fed until kittens are seven or eight weeks old when they can be fed commercial kitten or cat food as desired.
Mixing Directions
Determine the amount of KMR 2nd Step Kitten Weaning Food to be fed to the kitten at each feeding using the weight chart below. Reconstitute powder by using three parts (a part is any measuring device, i.e. teaspoon, tablespoon, or cup) water to one part powder for the first few days. This will make a thin gruel. Offer only small amounts and remove the uneaten portion within two hours. As kittens grow, decrease the amount of water mixed with the powder until weaning food is an oatmeal consistency. Fresh, clean water should always be available for drinking.

Storage Instructions
Powder does not need to be refrigerated. Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposure to excessive temperatures. Any uneaten reconstituted weaning food should be discarded after two hours.
