The litter is the primary source of "that cat smell." Cats are very clean and fastidious. For best results, place your litter box in a well-ventilated area, a room with an open window. Also, clean the litter box daily, and change the litter at least twice a week, once a week for clumping litter. Most cats don't appreciate having to share a litter box, regardless of whether it's fresh or filthy. We always recommend at least one litter box per cat - more if your cat is fussy.
