Toxoplasmosis Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite sometimes present in raw or undercooked meat and in cat feces. This parasite can be transmitted to humans and may cause a disease called Toxoplasmosis. Most people will show no signs of illness; however, the disease can be harmful to a developing fetus. Pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems should take special care to avoid infection by thoroughly cooking meat and avoiding contact with litter boxes or used cat litter. If you own a cat and are concerned about Toxoplasmosis, talk to your health care provider.
