George loves it We were concerned about George's nails and tearing, however, after many hours, there is not tear or snag. The multi speed option is great, as it allows us to conform to his mood. When h is wild, he loves the fastest speed,, however when he is in a mellow frame, he prefers laying and trying to catch the "mouse". My two cats love this toy. It is a great toy to keep my two cats entertained and give them exercise. The only thing I do not like about it is when they catch the mouse and hold it down with their paws it makes a lot of noise, but it is worth it to see them having so much fun. February 11, 2014

How do you get the mouse piece to stay attached to the base?

Answer:

We had to use a light piece of. Wire and wind it around the stick part close to the base rap several times, then go a half inch up to the next extension and rap tight around the shaft, you can use crafting wire, it is the perfect size.

You have to push it on quite hard until it snaps into place. Once it snaps on, it should stay there

Wrap a layer of Scotch tape around the shaft. This worked for me when I had the same problem. Unfortunately my three cats never had much interest in the thing even after I fixed it.

I wound double-sided tape around the mouse part that goes into the wand. So far it is holding, but I will try superglue if it falls off. This was a very disappointing feature of this toy!!

Ours doesn't come off and it gets plenty of use, but if it did, I would crazy glue it after the troops want to bed for the night.

all five of my cats have claws. DECLAWING is barbarious...extremely painful to a cat, and throws off the abililty to walk right... this toy is wonderful, well buitl and claws have no problems.. ENJOY

Yes. Both mine have their claws (and Patsy's are due for trimming) and they've both played with it. Fabric is actually pretty tough. Also not that hard to replace if needed.
