All three of my cats come running when I turn this on! Takes care of their need to stalk and hunt. Interestingly they take turns. Little butts in the air wiggling!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shirlock Sturdy toy for cats
My two male cats (both age 4 years) love this toy - even when it is not turned on. They love the string and chase it when I turn the toy on. They have even pulled the string (the motor hums) but they do let it go and the string winds back. They have also dragged the toy across the floor by the string and the toy is still working. This is a very durable toy.

My cat Oreo really likes this toy. It only took a few minutes when I first turned it on before she was batting at the string. Our house is very quiet, and she's not fond of noise, so I eventually put this on a folded blanket and the rotation sound is super quiet. It does make a noise if the cat holds the string when it tries to rotate, but even my fraidy cat didn't care. She comes running whenever she hears it turn on now! So worth it! I love the auto-shut down too. I can turn it on and leave the house and it won't run all day. I think it goes for about 10-15 minutes.

I had a toy similar to this that had a wire that rotated under a round cloth. Two sets of kittens (I foster) wore it out. This looked more difficult to damage. The first one I received was a lemon which worke poorly and briefly. Drs. Foster Smith sent a replacement and the new one works as described. The kittens and two adult cats are entranced with it. One if the adults likes to catch the string in his mouth then drag the toy all over the house. He even tries to take it upstairs. Even this treatment has not damaged it. I reccommend this toy as being a better choice than the cloth ones in terms of difficulty to damage. It holds the cats' attention and they clearly enjoy it.
