Excellent - Entertains Our Cat Very Well
My cat is a 4 year old Siberian and he loves this toy. The big button in the center turns it on and, by pushing the button again, it has various speed settings. To our amazement, our cat goes right up to it, stands on the big button with his front paws and turns it on himself. He likes to watch the mouse go around and around in unpredictable directions and at varying speeds under the cover. After a while of watching, he'll chase the mouse under the circular cover for a while, and then he will finally lay down on a section of the cover --- this causes the mouse to stop for a moment, the toy makes a clicking sound and then the mouse reverses direction. We've come to the conclusion that our cat, Batman, LOVES both the clicking sound and the mouse tapping him in the back & then the chest as it keeps reversing direction. We love how the mouse is unpredictable and will change direction when it's "caught" under the cover. Batman is so cute when he watches it going around/back & forth and sticks his head under the edge of the cover for a sneaky peek! We especially love how Batman can turn this toy on himself. This toy is worth every penny we paid and we have definitely recommended it to family and friends. After seeing ours, my sister has purchased one for her three cats, too! It works great on carpet, hardwood and ceramic tile floors and seems to have great battery life... even with the cat turning it on himself. Amazing. I can't think of any cons - other than the Batman has not learned how to turn it off when he's done playing with it.

Depends on the Cat
I have two cats; a domestic short-hair (5 y.o.) and a Manx (4 y.o). When you first turn it on, they enjoy it for a minute. They didn't like the mouse or the noise, nor the cover that you can't get glimpses through. I took the mouse off and found a feather toy that would somewhat fit. They really enjoyed the feathers more, but unfortunately the feather toy would not stay attached and they liked when I offset the cover so the feathers could be glimpsed as they rotated. This product could be improved by adding other toys that fit in place of the mouse, a heavier cover (the cover should also have a few holes or not be a perfect circle, so that they can glimpse the toy as it goes around) and a motor that is a bit more quiet. I would recommend this toy for kittens; as for older cats it just depends on what they like.
