Hiding Hut Medium/Large Color: Brown Scroll 3 5 11 11

My cats love these beds My cats really like these comfortable places to rest and hide. With two sizes both my cats have a bed to fit them comfortably. January 27, 2013

Great Cave First, my cat LOVED the cat cave, a couple years later my cat is no longer here (sigh), but my new small breed puppy just absolutely adores it. She goes into it when she needs to take a nap, she hated the regular style of dog kennel. When I need to go somewhere, I take her and her "Dog House" and she rides in it in the front seat, totally relaxed, her little head poked out of the opening. I think that it is well made and if she gets to big for this one I will absolutely order the larger one. October 18, 2012

Cats love it but not as intended My cats love tubes, cube etc so we thought they would like this hut. They do. But they prefer to lay and nap on top of it and only occaissionally spend time inside it ... November 10, 2012

Roomy base for two cats, but small opening I have two cats that stay outside much of the time during the winter and their hutch bed is only 15x15 inches at the base. One cat is large and the other small, but it is cramped.The base measurements of this bed are perfect, as the bed sits atop a pillow with an electric pet mat on top of the pillow, then a towel, then the bed, all in a plastic carrier (bottom only). It needed to be covered to protect the cats from the winter winds. But, reading reviews about the opening, I hesitated to order it. Then I figured I could alter it. After receiving it quickly via Fed Ex (took advantage of the current free shipping offered) I took scissors to it and altered the opening. Now both cats get easily in and out of it and it protects them from the cold winds. It would be good if the fluffy interior liner was more durable, otherwise, no complaints. February 11, 2012

Would This be large enough for an adult ragdoll cat? They are among the largest cat breeds.

Absolutely NOT! Don't buy it. I just bought it for my 1 year old kitten/cat, he is a short hair tabby and weighs 10 pounds. He could hardly get tthrough the hole. We returned it within 2 days because he wouldn't get back in it. He loves to hide and we even have a blanket thrown over a chair so that he can hide under it and thought the hiding hut would be perfect. It wasn't.

That's the size of my male cat who has short hair. Unless he is trained to get in and out using treats, he may think the opening too small and be reluctant to enter. And if it hangs up on her or him as it leaves, that could scare your cat to avoid it completely.

I went ahead and ordered it and in two afternoons, altered it with scissors, a rectangular piece of cloth (piece of pillow case), iron for the cloth to press the edges over, and needle and thread. I also sewed two pieces of small squares of denim material on top of the point I had created, sewing them on to the delicate interior liner, acting as a gusset or something sturdy to sew to, especially as I had cut a bit too high, leaving little of the delicate fabric to sew to, so I extended it with the denim pieces. Not everyone is going to want to do this. But now both cats get inside. Yes, they were reluctant to go in even with the larger opening, as it was new. I put their used kitty towel piece from their old bed inside the new bed so they could smell their smells. The current cold wintry air is also making them want to use it.
P.S. I bought the gray bed as from the photos it seems taller, unless they are showing the smaller version of the brown one next to the gray one.

No way :) I got it for my 9 lb cat and he can't even fit through the opening. It was a major disappointment - save your money.

Its 22" long! My adult 12 lb. cat stretches out lengthwise and loves it! Plenty of room!

Thank you for your question. The opening for the medium/large is 5.5". I cannot tell you specifically if your cat will fit in it, as large size cats range in size. I had a cat that weighed 28 lbs in her prime, and she got into places I never could have imagined her getting in to. We do have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy; so if you do purchase it and your cat doesn't like it, you could send it back and we would refund or credit your account for the product.

Why isn't this hut made with more support for the sides and top?

If this hut had additional support for the sides and top it would be fantastic...It is way too colapsible the way it is now in my opinion...

Yes, the current hutch type beds we have for our cats that sleep outside often will climb on top and push them down to sleep on them, especially if it is not very cold out or on milder days. Something I've done is use some discard mini-blind turn rod carefully bent and placed inside the beds to support it like is used in modern tents. Another idea is to use newly prune branches, as from our fruit trees, carefully bend them and place them inside along the seems. Sometimes I have to place them back in their seems as they can slip out.

Good idea to have something like fiberglass rods or similar plastic rods placed inside like tent supports.

Even after several washings, mine keeps its retangle shape.
1 cat even walks on it to collapse it and then sleep on it.
All I do is push the top back up and its a snugglie hut again.

IF they could get inside, maybe. I just measured the entrance diameter of the LARGE hut at about 5-1/4", and there isn't enough give that either of my 14 lb Maine Coons feel that they can get in. They look into it, and stick their heads in but once their shoulders but up against that 5" opening, they stop.
