Not all catnip is the same. To be effective catnip must be fresh and aromatic. Give your cat the best, 100% natural catnip, available as flakes or super-potent pellets, which are 50% stronger than flakes. Each jar of flakes or pellets also contains catnip-saturated pompons. Both styles can be inserted in toys, placed in bowls, or simply scattered about. Your feline friend will flip over whichever style you choose, Flakes (2 oz or 4 oz) or Pellets (16 oz or 2 lbs). Catnip can be given daily to cats, but after a few minutes, its effectiveness wears off and your cat will need to be away from the catnip for a while in order to experience a reaction again.
What is the difference between the flakes and the pellets?

Both the pellets and flakes are 100% catnip. The pellets are small nugget pieces of compressed catnip and are about 50% stronger than the flakes. The flakes are small pieces of catnip similar in size and shape to dried oregano.
Is it safe to give my kitten the pellets or are they too big?

Young kittens are usually not interested in catnip until they are older. If you are in doubt about your cat having the pellets, either supervise your cat or stick with the flakes.
