Great cat tree!
Great cat tree, very sturdy, good quality. My four cats enjoy playing on it and it stays put. The last Foster and Smith cat tree I bought lasted for many years. I tried a cheaper one last time, lasted maybe 1-1/2 years before my cats were able to start shredding the covering material. I will stick with quality Foster and Smith cat trees, from now on!

Best Cat House I've Ever Owned
I have six cats, and all of them love this cat tree. They are adults and play on it constantly. I discovered immediately that this unit should be up against a wall to be the most steady, so that's what I did. It is up against a wall (not a corner), and it doesn't budge an inch. I have 8 foot ceilings. The extender tightened against the ceiling has kept it in place for many years. I would have preferred cedar posts instead of the sisal rope. The carpeting has had it's day, but I keep the threads trimmed, so it looks neat and manicured. That's the secret to keep this unit looking fresh and new. Trimming the loose carpet fibers and vacuuming it regularly as I have the dark brown color.
This is the best post ever, just keep in mind to place it against a wall for maximum support. The extender arm that goes to the ceiling is carpeted so that it won't damage your paint. It takes a lot of turns to raise it, but don't give up and the steadiness of the unit will reward you with years of cat-playing fun. This unit has the Arrow/Patches/Squirt/Wiggletto/Buffy seal of approval.

Excellent climbing tree
We bought this tree shortly after our two kittens adopted us. So far it has withstood two years of rough treatment from our two lovable demons. One will get into the crow's nest and the other on top of it and they will swat at each other and play. They love to peruse their domain from their lofty perch. They chase each other up and down it and sometimes nap in the crow's nest or on top of it.
Because it is a floor-to-ceiling tree, you have to check its stability at least once a week - jumping and climbing can slowly loosen the top part so you have to tighten it every so often. Failure to do so can result in flying cats and broken lamps (I speak from experience), However, if you keep watch there are no worries. It was also fairly easy to assemble.
The tree is fairly good quality. My only displeasure is with the carpeting on the edges of the perches and around the opening to the crow's nest. From the very beginning these edges were thin and white was showing through. This is my only real complaint about the product as I keep it in the living room and am fussy about its appearance.
The only hesitation I would have in recommending this tree is that the flat levels of the tree are not staggered - a cat can't jump from one level to the next, he has to climb. My babies adapted fairly quickly but an older cat might have problems. I do keep a two-story condo next to the tree and the babies vault from one to the other.
