Preparations
-
Battery Installation: Remove the Battery Compartment Cover located on the bottom side of the scale. Insert two AAA alkaline batteries following the diagram inside the compartment for proper "+" and "-" alignment.
-
Place the scale on a flat, level, hard surface making sure all four sensors/feet are in contact evenly with the surface. Do not try to weigh if the scale teeters or rocks; you must find a flat, hard surface. Do not attempt to weigh on carpet or a soft surface. Never leave a pet unattended on the scale.
-
Choose the unit of measurement you wish to use, pound/ounces or kilograms. Push the UNIT button on the face of the scale to change from LB/OZ to KG and note the unit of measurement displayed in the very top of the display screen.
Weighing your Pet
-
Press the On/off Tare button and "88888" will appear on the display screen for two seconds. After the first use, the "M" icon for Memory will be displayed along with the last recorded weight for about four seconds and display will read zero. "0:0.0" if weighing in pounds or "0.00" if weighing in kilograms. Note: The UNIT of measure LB/OZ or KG will be displayed at the very top of the display screen.
-
When the Zero display is shown, place your pet on the scale and the weight of the pet will be displayed. When the pet is relatively still, push the HOLD button (NOTE: You must push the HOLD button to record the weight in Memory). The display screen numbers will flash several times while determining the correct weight and then automatically display the weight for about four seconds.
-
If the newly recorded weight is different from the weight in Memory, the scale will automatically calculate and display the word "UP" or "Down" with the corresponding arrow, and display the amount of weight increase or decrease for about four seconds. The scale will display the current weight and the increase or decrease alternately and turn OFF automatically in about 15 seconds.
-
Note: The memory will be lost if batteries are removed.
TARE Function
The TARE Function allows you to place an object such as a pad or small cage on the scale and still record only the weight of the pet. You can accomplish this in two ways.
-
Place the object on the scale before you push the On/Off TARE button. The scale will process the added weight, display the weight recorded in Memory and display 0:0.0. Place your pet on the scale and only the weight of the pet will be displayed.
-
Push the On/Off TARE button and wait for the scale to display 0:0.0. Place the object on the scale and you will see the weight of the object in the display window. Push the On/Off TARE button and the scale will perform the TARE Function and return the display to 0:0.0. Place your pet on the scale and only the weight of the pet will be displayed. Note: The minimum weight displayed is 3.5 ounces. Therefore, the object you use for the TARE Function must weigh more than this minimum weight.
Care
-
Use and store in a dry area only. Do not leave loads on the scale.
-
Do not expose pet scale to extreme temperatures and/or high humidity. Best operating temperatures are between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Do not overload the scale beyond the maximum weight of 55 pounds.
-
Clean the platform with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Do not allow water or moisture to enter the inner workings. This pet scale is NOT waterproof.
Warning: Never leave your pet unattended during the weighing process.
