Emits a short, safe electric pulse when touched to contain horses
Safely contain your horses no matter where the trail takes you. Ingenious electric horse fence kit includes everything you need to quickly and easily build a safe, temporary enclosure that contains up to five horses. Versatile design lets you fashion either a 25-foot x 25-foot double-line paddock or a 50-foot x 50-foot single-line pen. Perfect for excursions on the riding trail, overnights at competitions, or during travels across the country. Much safer than tethering your horse to a structure. More comfortable than leaving your horse in the trailer. Compact, lightweight design packs 200-feet of polytape, eight step-in fence posts, grounding rod, battery powered fence energizer, and more into a convenient nylon carrying case with shoulder strap. Assembly Instructions
It is important to train your horses inside the Portable Paddock fence before leaving them unattended.
The Portable Paddock can be assembled in one of two ways. You can easily create a 25-foot x 25-foot, double-line fence enclosure or a 50-foot x 50-foot, single line fence enclosure. Both designs can safely contain up to four or five horses. For the maximum safety for your horse, always build the double line enclosure as a temporary paddock only.
To build the 625 square foot paddock (25-feet long per side):
Choose a suitable location. The ground should be level and non-rocky. It should also be an area safe for your horse.
Pace off the perimeter of the paddock to determine the position of each fence post.
Keep in mind, there is 200-feet of polytape. For a 25-foot x 25-foot enclosure, this means that each corner post will be approximately 25-feet apart with a center support post positioned approximately 12-1/2 feet from each corner post.
Use your foot to drive the steel spike of each Fence Post into the ground. Repeat for each Fence Post. Each Fence Post should be positioned so the polytape clips face away from the paddock interior.
Once each of the Fence Posts are installed, choose one corner post as your Gate Entrance. Hook the rubber Gate Handle to the chosen Fence Post. Unspool the Polytape by holding the spool handle and walking the perimeter of the paddock.
Start with the top line for the 25-foot x 25-foot enclosure. Go around to the last post and drop down to a lower clip to continue back around the fence.
As you go, slip the Polytape into the appropriate clip on each Fence Post.
Hang the Polytape Spool from the last Fence Post using the Spool Handle.
Drive one Corner Bracing Stake into the ground two to three feet from each of the corner Fence Posts on the outside of the paddock.
Hook the loop of each Corner Bracing Guy Line over one of the clips on each of the corner Fence Posts.
Pull down on the line tightener until there is enough tension on the guy line to make the Fence Posts vertical.
Gently insert (DO NOT HAMMER) the Electric Fence Energizer Mounting Stake into the ground near the fence in an out of the way place.
Drive the Copper Coated Ground Spike into the ground next to the Electric Fence Energizer Mounting Stake. Leave about 1" of the Ground Spike exposed.
Ensure the Energizer is switched "OFF." Insert two D-cell batteries into the Energizer.
Connect the Ground Lead Wire (with Battery Clamp) to the green output terminal on the Energizer. Clamp the Ground Lead Wire to the Ground Spike.
Connect the Fence Lead Wire (with Polytape Clip) to the red output terminal on the Energizer. Clip the Fence Lead Wire to the Polytape Fence.
Mount the Energizer to the Mounting Stake. Turn the unit "ON."
Horses are natural pasture animals. Their typical activities include grazing anywhere from 12-16 hours a day, walking, and playing with other horses. Confined to stalls for long periods of time, horses can develop negative behavioral vices.
Nothing is more disconcerting to horse owners than a horse behavior that is both repetitive and harmful. A stall vice is one such behavior. Stall vices can affect your horse's dependability and/or health, and once a vice is set, it's hard to break.
A range of insects bother horses. Flies, mosquitoes, gnats, fleas, ticks, and lice can all create havoc in the stall, barn, or stable. This article discusses how to understand, rid and repel bugs.
Effective insect control for your horse, barn, and home relies on understanding the difference between various active ingredients. This article discusses pyrethrins, permethrins, and more.
