CleanFlow Stock Tank Filter
I purchased this filter and de-icer earlier this fall. I really wanted to see how well it would filter the hard iron water I have and also see how well a 500 watt heater would work here in Minnesota. So far, LOVE this product. I did put a small rock about one pound on the filter unit to make sure it stayed at the bottom. This works great. The cord holder, I do not see any issues with yet. My two horses dont seem to care, however I do have the stock tank against the fence, so the backside where the cord holders are they do not even mess with. The water is clean, and the tank looks great. It has a even flow on the top, which keeps the water moving, so I waited two nights (when the temps dropped, below freezing) to see if it would freeze over. It did not! There was about a foot and a half opening that the horses could still drink water out of. I finally started the heater and everything is running and looking great. I have not seen the electric bill since I plugged in the heater, however 500 watts, vs. 1500 watts on standard heaters, I think it will be just fine. Works and I am sure the price on electric will be down. I highly recommend this product. Wish I would not have waited so long to purchase.

Simple yet effective
We have over 60 alpacas and use two, 100 gallon water troughs to water them with. Every day we emptied, cleaned and refilled them to the tune of about 30 min. Now that we have the CleanFlow Tank Filter we find ourselves only needing to do that once a month. Although it has not been cold enough to try the water de-icers yet, if they are half as good as the filters, I am sure they will work great!

The product has saved me money and time.
Assist in keeping the water tank cleaner.
Do not need to use the heating element until it gets below 20 degrees during the day and night. (I have mine in stock tanks that are protected from the wind and elements.
Would like to be able to purchase a replacement pump and case. My one house broke the case, but everything else was fine, but did not want to purchase an entire system.

Great idea, flawed design
The product worked well and did as advertised. It was used in a rubbermaid stock tank and kept it clean and clear, free of green algae and smaller debris. Larger debris was removed with a pool skimmer which sometimes caused a current, making the unit float to the top. A large rock was placed on top of it which solved that issue. Unfortunately, the cord clip wasn't effective as the horses found it easy to remove, allowing them to chew through one cord and pull another unit out of the tank entirely by the cord, destroying it. I wish it had been a bit more "horse proof". Both units I purchased are now in the trash.
