| To properly maintain your clippers always used genuine Laube parts.
Blade Care:
- To prevent blades from becoming dull quickly wash hair prior to clipping. Hair contains abrasive particles like sand or dirt that will dull a blade. These particles will also separate the blades and cause the blade to chew the hair or not cut at all.
- Always clean and oil blades before and after usage. Use Laube blade care products.
- To prevent blades from heating up operate clippers on the low speed setting using hi speed when necessary.
- If lubricant is used to cool the blade always remove the blade from the clipper and after cooling use blade oil to prevent blade from heating up again.
Seating-In Period:
The Laube Clipper Motor has a seating-in period. The speed of the motor may fluctuate from 4,000 to 5,000 rpm during the first 30 days of use. This is a normal occurrence and does not need repair or warrant cause for alarm. This clipper is fully functional during this time.
How to Use your Laube Clipper:
- Latch/Unlatch Blasé: Al Laube clippers use the Dura-Lock System. This system is designed to lock all professional snap on style blades more securely than any other clipper. Please notice that this hinge system may require a seating-in period. Oil your hinge for maximum performance and usage. While the clipper is on low speed snap blade down. Press hard to engage lock. You should hear two clicks. The second click is the lock. Once blade is securely latched you may switch from "LO or HI" speed as desired.
- To remove Power Pack: Hold the unlock button down while twisting power pack until it stops. Release the button and straight pull the power pack from the clipper. To install power pack align key at the bottom of clipper with power pack. Twist power pack to lock on the the clipper.
Lever replacement
Replace the lever when it becomes worn; when the clipper's performance drops off, when blade had tracking problems, or when tapping or clicking noises occur.
To replace lever:
Step 1) Unscrew nameplate screws found on the sides of the latch button (retain for reuse) and insert screwdriver below where lever protrudes, using the hinge for leverage, pry nameplate from housing (nameplate is snap fit.)
Step 2) Carefully pry lever off nameplate with screwdriver. (Do not damage the nameplate bearings.)
Step 3) Add grease to slot of new lever.
Step 4) Attach new lever onto nameplate pressing firmly till snap fit is achieved.
Step 5) Attach nameplate (with lever) unto clipper housing, be sure bearing lines up with lever slot.
Step 6) Re-install nameplate screws.
Common adjustments for other snap-on style blades
Excessive blade heat is usually a result of over tightened blade tension. The cutter blade should slide back and forth fairly easily. Do not over loosed blade tension, this will cause blade to jam and not cut. NEVER loosen screws to relieve blade tension. This will disturb blade alignment and cause possible harm to user.
Step 1) Place blade flat on a table screw side down with teeth pointing away from you.
Step 2) Slide cutter blade to the right.
Step 3) Place a flat head screwdriver between blade spring and comb blade.
Step 4) Pry up on blade spring gently so as NOT to ever loosen tension. If blade tension is still too tight repeat procedure.
What if Blade rattles or chatters?
Place blade flat on a table screw side down, with the teeth pointing away from you. With a small pair of needle-nose pliers adjust ears of socket so that they are straight up and down. Place blade on clipper hinge as normal making sure that your clipper is running on low speed. At first the blade will be hard to latch. Keep applying pressure until blade locks on the the hinge or firmly seated. This operation will adjust blades to your clipper. At times ears may need d be bent toward each other to prevent rattling. |
