Features a 1/2 gallon reservoir and an ultra-quiet, submersible pump to continuously circulate water. Pre-filter traps larger debris while the three-layer charcoal filter removes smaller impurities. Water is returned to the large bowl via a gentle cascade from the 8-1/2" high elevated spout. Adjustable flow control valve regulates water circulation for water flow that is customizable to your pet's needs. Rubber feet grip almost any floor surface to prevent slips. Tips on use: When being introduced to the Drinkwell Platinum, your pet will probably have the good sense to be cautious of this new and unusual object. After beginning operation of the fountain, just let your pet adjust at his or her own pace. Some pets take several days or longer to begin use. Ice cubes can be added to the bowl for refreshing ice-cold running water.
Operation: Fill with water and plug unit in to begin continuous recirculation. Add water to the bowl as needed. Water first falls onto a ramp in the bowl, which reduces the noise and splash of falling water. Yet the flowing action still breaks the surface tension of the bowl water to draw in oxygen from the air and aerate the water. Aerated water tastes fresher. You can see it working by the tiny bubbles it creates.

This fountain is superior to the original one. I'm ordering my second fountain today. One of my cats has kidney problems and needs to drink a lot of water. Now I can have a second fountain for my bathroom. It is SO VERY EASY TO CLEAN. The original fountain is difficult to clean. Bothe humans and cats in my household give it a 5 star rating. Do buy the cleaning brush set they have, it's a great product and makes cleaning easy.
I tentatively purchased this fountain wondering if my dogs would even drink out of it or make a mess playing in it. One dog drank from it immediately, the other took a week or two to become comfortable with it. (I left the reg. water bowl out for a while.) Both of them now prefer the fountain. I find it easy to use and fill and even the cleaning isn't bad. It did start to get louder and I made sure to clean the motor and it went back to it's quiet operation. My dogs often get to dig and hunt for varmints and manage to get dirt and such in the drinking tray but I give it a good rinse out each week and a good cleaning every two weeks. I did have a concern that the dirt may affect the working of the product but it has never caused a problem and runs GREAT. I would recommend this product.
