Duetto Multi-Filter Replacement Media

Media Pak for Duetto Mini contains two filter sponges and two chemical filtration cartridges.

Mechanical pre-filter cartridge
As dirt collects on the sponge, the cartridge will gradually become clogged. Water flow slows and will eventually stop. Periodically rinse the pre-filter sponge in cold running water to remove large particles. Replace the mechanical pre-filter cartridge every 21 days or so as needed.

Chemical filtration cartridge
Due to factor such as fish population, waste load and aquarium conditions, carbon loses effectiveness over time. Replace your chemical filtration cartridge at least every 21 days. If water flow through the cartridge becomes restricted or odor or water discoloration develops, change the cartridge immediately. Note: For optimum chemical filtration, genuine Duetto filter cartridges are your ideal choice. Unlike other limited-capacity cartridges that may contain inferior carbon substitutions, Duetto cartridges contain premium activated carbon. It adsorbs odors and impurities to leave your aquarium water sparkling clean and your fish thriving and healthy.

Biological filter sponge
The biological filter sponge should not be removed during routine maintenance of other components. Removal can damage the beneficial bacteria colonies. Important note: Do not change the biological filter sponge at the same time that you change the mechanical pre-filter cartridge and chemical filtration cartridge. This is necessary to preserve the culture of beneficial bacteria growing on the sponge.
