What is Tumil-K?
Tumil-K is prescription potassium gluconate used as an oral supplement for animals with potassium deficiency. Low blood potassium is a serious condition and animals with prolonged vomiting or diarrhea should be seen by a veterinarian. For Tumil-K Gel each 2.34 grams (1/2 teaspoon) contains 2 mEq (468 mg) of potassium gluconate.

Tumil-K is prescription potassium gluconate used to treat low blood potassium levels, often occurring as a result of kidney disease. Potassium is an electrolyte necessary to maintain almost all cellular functions, including the transmission of nerve impulses and the contraction of muscles. Tumil-K is available in gel, tablet, and powder form.

How does Tumil-K work?
Tumil-K treats hypokalemia by providing a source of potassium.

How is it given?
Tumil-K potassium oral supplements are given by mouth. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

What results can I expect?
Tumil-K will help to bring the potassium in the blood and in the cells back to normal. It may take several days of treatment to achieve that. In most cases, Tumil-K will need to be given long-term. What form(s) does it come in?
