What should I discuss with my veterinarian while considering Lincocin Aquadrops?
Talk to your veterinarian about what type of outcome is expected. Have your veterinarian explain the other treatment options that may be available to treat your pet's condition.
Notify your veterinarian of any other medications or supplements your pet is taking, or if your pet has had any reactions to previous medications.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
What is the most important information I should know?
Follow your veterinarian's directions and give the full course of Lincocin Aquadrops as prescribed. Consult your veterinarian if the animal's condition does not improve or worsens after beginning treatment with Lincocin Aquadrops.
Who should not take it?
Not for use in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to lincomycin or similar antibiotics, such as clindamycin. The safety of using lincomycin in pregnant animals has not been determined. Use with caution in lactating animals (female animals nursing their young), since it could cause diarrhea in the offspring. Use with caution in animals with liver or kidney disease.
Do NOT use Lincocin in rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters or other rodents since it will affect the normal bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract and possibly cause fatal diarrhea.
What side effects may be seen when taking Lincocin Aquadrops?
May see diarrhea or vomiting. If you notice these side effects, contact your veterinarian.
How is it stored?
Store in a tight, light-resistant, childproof container at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
What should I do if I know of or suspect there has been an overdose?
If you know or suspect your pet has had an overdose, contact your veterinarian immediately.
What should I avoid when giving my pet Lincocin Aquadrops?
Consult your veterinarian before using Lincocin Aquadrops with any other medications, including vitamins and supplements, since interactions may occur. Products containing kaolin, an ingredient in many over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medications, will reduce the effectiveness of lincomycin. If your veterinarian recommends using a product with kaolin along with the lincomycin, give them at least two hours apart.
