| Q: Should kittens be fed adult cat food?
A: While it is possible that an Adult Cat food may be adequate for some kittens, these diets are designed for the amino acid, calcium, and phosphorus needs of adult cats, not kittens. When feeding kittens, we recommend using a food specifically designed for kittens. Look for a diet that carries an AAFCO statement saying it meets the nutritional needs for growth of cats. For older kittens, say 3 or 4 months of age, it would be fine to add some variety with a small amount of canned adult cat food, as long as a Kitten food makes up most of the diet until the kitten is about a year old.
