I purchased this for my 14 year old lovebird over 5 years ago and use it as his main food dish. It washes well with a scrub brush and has held up like a charm! I'm buying him another one just because I love it so much.

My little budgie, Oliver, has made this toy his favorite toy! But the picture lies. The toy is MUCH bigger. If you have a single budgie in a smaller cage I couldn't get it. Oliver has a larger cage and it takes up a whole top corner by itself and hangs halfway down the thing. The dimensions don't lie so make sure you have the room for it. But Oliver loves to preen the ropes and chew the shell. So yes get this toy if you have the room for it!

I had read reviews and wanted to ease the transition of a new big toy in the cage so I put millet in the bottom. After pretending that this did not exist for a day and a half, both birds were in the coconut munching on millet. Ever since, they both hang out inside it, on top of it, swinging it, or just pecking out the rope ends. While they both fit inside it, often one is on top while one is inside, or one is on the perch below it while one is on top. It holds both of them with no problems and gives them lots to play with. There are not yet any signs of wear, and they have been pulling and plucking and pecking! I am thinking that we will need a second one when they have finished pulling this one apart. Great value!! Check your sizes first, though. I have a huge cage and I am not sure if this would fit in a smaller cage well.

This is a great way to give your birds treats. The coconut shell is pretty indestructible. It is made well. It would definitely last longer with smaller birds as larger birds would destroy the ropes on this in no time. I would highly recommend for smaller birds if you don't want to keep replacing it. I put nesting material in it for my love bird and she sleeps in it!
