Your chinchilla requires a clean, dry, hospitable
home to stay happy and healthy. In addition to being spacious, ventilated, chew-proof, and secure, your pet's home should contain the essentials:
|
|
- Proper bedding - do not use cedar shavings, pine shavings, or sawdust. Instead, use Aspen bedding, shredded papers, or other natural materials that do not contain irritating oils or preservatives.
- Food and water containers
- Toys
- Treats
- Tooth-grooming toys and chews
- Exercisers
- A container with
dust for bathing
- Hay for nibbling
Do not place your pet's home in direct sunlight (although it should be located in a bright, accessible area) or in a drafty area. Keep the home out of reach of very young children and other pets. If you use a cage with a mesh bottom, cover a portion of it with fabric or a piece of smooth wood to prevent foot injuries.
