| Clavamox® SUCCESS STORY:
Cat's Name: Molly
Breed: Maine Coon
Age: 3 years
Her story: When Linda rescued Molly from her local shelter, her older Siamese cat, Baby, was not pleased. Baby's frustration came to a head a week after Molly moved in, when the cats had a loud, nasty fight. A few days later, Linda discovered a hot, painful, swollen spot on Molly's left hindquarter.
Molly's veterinarian quickly diagnosed a large skin abscess, most likely the result of a bite from Baby. The veterinarian clipped the area over the abscess and examined the wound. Molly's abscess required quick action to stop the progression of the infection. Her veterinarian drained and disinfected the abscess, then made her comfortable for a supervised overnight stay involving rest, fluids, and pain relief. The veterinarian also prescribed Clavamox®, a proven, widely used antibiotic, to treat the infection.
Outcome: Ten days later, Molly was exploring her new home and well on the road to recovery. She took her Clavamox tablets twice a day with a few treats. Thankfully, none of Clavamox's possible side effects - lack of appetite, drooling, vomiting, or diarrhea - had caused any additional trouble. Linda knew to give Molly all of her Clavamox to ensure its complete effectiveness. At their follow up visit, Molly's veterinarian declared the abscess completely healed. Happily, Molly and Baby now coexist peacefully.
