Gastrointestinal worms and stomach bots can be a frightening burden for any horse owner. These parasites may cause severe equine health problems, including weakness, muscle loss, diarrhea, colic, ruptured blood vessels, organ damage, or worse. However, a variety of rotational oral horse medications are available to help control strongyles, roundworms, pinworms, hairworms, and similar parasites. These medications, which are technically "dewormers" and commonly called "wormers," contain specific active ingredients to target the various internal parasites. Each is fairly easy to administer at set intervals throughout the year to target specific parasites in various stages of the life cycle.
