Do I have to train my dog to use a pet door?
When you install a pet door, you may need to train your pet to use it. If you are having a problem getting your dog to use the door, put the dog on one side of the door and yourself on the other side. Then use a snack to lure your dog through the door. This exercise should quickly help your pet become comfortable using the door. If, after a few days, you are still experiencing problems, try propping the door open so your pet can access the outside even more easily. Then, lower the door once your pet becomes comfortable with the door.
