My cartridge canister developed a pinhole in bottom corner. Where can I purchase a new one?

Pure-Flo II , TFC RO. I also would like to purchase 3 cartridges. ( Micron, Carbon, De-ionization)

Answer:

Sergio. A pinhole in the canister that holds a cartridge can be sucessfully repaired for almost nothing. The wonder product that you would want to use is model airplane cement or plastic cement available at your local hobby shop. This is old school glue and it works by disolving or softening the plastic where it is applied. It will soften the plastic around the hole to the point it will collaspe upon itself and when dry will provide a liquid proof repair. Fix it from the outside or the inside and this method will work for as long as you own the unit.

Upgrade RO System

I have a Coralife 24 GPD system and I want to upgrade it to at least 50 GPD. Just what do I need to buy to do this?

You need to buy a new membrane with the rated capacity that you need. Note: this is the expensive part of the equation. They typically come in 50 gallons per day (GPD), 100 GPD, and 200 GPD. They are typically sold by on-line retailers specializing in fish supplies, like Drs. Foster & Smith.

Unfortunately, there is no upgrade that will make a 24 GPD RO Unit become a 50 GPD RO Unit. If you truly want 50 GPD, you will need to purchase the 50 GPD Unit, item number 18782, 18786, or 18783. Thank you.

it is recommended to only run cold water through an RO filter. Although warmer water produces faster, it will damage the membrane and shorten the life of the filters.

I am unfamilar with the term "gpdon" and "sages"? If you want to know if the performance of your unit is within the spec's that the manufacture stated, it is an easy process. I believe most units are rated in Gallons Per Day "GPD" but you can convert the numbers to show GPH also. Get a 1 cup measuring cup, and a watch or clock with a second hand. With the unit already operating, wait until the second hand is on 12 and put the 1 cup measuring under the outflow tube. Time how long it takes to fill the cup.#in seconds# multiply your time#in seconds# by 16 and divide by 60. Your answer is how long it takes for your unit to produce 1 gallon of ro/di water. Divide your answer into 1440 to get gallons in 24 hours.

Yes. I get about 1:4 or 1:5 ratio of RO/DI to waste. This will vary with supply water pressure and temperature. Some people pre-heat the supply by running the line through a coil in a bucket filled with water heated by an aquarium heater. Some units have a pump to raise the water pressure to about 100 PSI before the membrane to improve it's efficiency.
