Yellow tangs are great because they are not picky eaters. Their diet should consist of 50% of a high quality meaty food (such as Marine Cuisine, Emerald Entree, PE Mysis) and 50% of seaweed/algae sheets. I highly recommend Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies line for this. Good luck with your new livestock addition!

You could not have picked a better fish. The Yellow Tang will eat almost anything. New arrivals I try to give live brine shrimp with a flake mix. Assuming that there are other fish in the tank your tang will learn to eat the flake food. I use Aqueon Marine Flakes sold by F&S. I also keep garlic flavored green algea sheets. Brown algea sheets also work very well. Once a month I will also chop fresh shrimp (not cooked still in shell) and feed my tangs. But, get them to eat the flake first and then treat them to the shrimp.

Another idea would be to contact S&Fs aqua division and ask them what they were feeding the tang that way there would be zero chance of confusion.

Any seaweed/plant based food should do just fine. Your best bet is to get a large algae flake and veggie clamp it to the side of your aquarium close to the substrate. Food such as Ocean Nutrition Marine Seaweed Selects are your best bet. Tangs prefer green algae, but will eat most plant based foods, including some algae found on live rock. If not fed properly, the tang will pick excessively at live rock searching for food.

I feed my powder blue tang Formula two flakes( foster and smith in foods). Also they may like rods frozen foods as well. Also you can purchase from foster and smith some brown sea weed they like to feed on that as well. I hope this helps

Tangs love their algae. I have never had problems with Ocean Nutrition Seaweed Selects. Easiest way to feed is with a magnetic algae clip.

Variety is key. Yellow tangs are primarily herbivores but they will eat meaty foods. So think of them as an omnivore that needs extra greens. Get a veggie clip and feed nori (the dry sheet seaweed). You can also feed frozen foods just as mysis (small shrimp), and flake foods such as Formula 1 (omnivores) and Formula 2 (herbivores). You can also feed well washed lettuce, or even chunks of steamed broccoli to supplement their diet. There are also some other frozen herbivore fish foods (Hikari for example), that may work. Experiment and see what your fish likes best.

two words: Cichlid Excel. the Electric Yellow or Yellow Lab is an African Cichlid. their primary source of food in the wild is PLANT based, which in their case consists of a lot of algae. whatever food you choose, make sure it's a high quality and also make sure that the protein content does not go above 35-40%. they can't tolerate higher protein levels and will get sick.
and one side note, the other person's suggestion to feed them feeder fry is NOT wise. not for African Cichlids. it's ok for Central and South American cichlids because they are more of a carnivorous fish.

Any good pellet or flake food, walmart brand is not a good food. For a treat (color enhancement) i would feed mine live bloodworms and brine shrimp (frozen works). But for a really special treat I would go to my favorite pet store and get very small feeder guppies. They loved them. Do not over feed them they will eat until they pop, literally. I see you have guppies listed in your question. This may already be solved.

I have had excellent results by mixing OSI spirilina flakes with Hikari (or other quality brand like OSI)goldfish pellets but a real key to protecting swim bladders and constipation is to feel them frozen brine shrimp at least once per week. It is a good laxative and adds a little high quality protein.

For any fancy goldfish, I would recommend a sinking type pellet food. Any high quality sinking pellet food like Saki Hikari or Hikari Lionhead pellets are a good choice. Personally, i would avoid any floating type pellets where gulping down air may increase risk of developing swim bladder problems.

You should also give your goldfish a variety in their diet by feeding them fruits and vegetables. De-skinned cooked peas are the all time favorite of my goldfish veggies to feed them. Small pieces of oranges are also a welcomed treat.

Hikari typically has pretty good food across the board. Their ornamental food has a good amount of spirulina in it, so that is a bonus. Most fish foods have a protien high in the list of ingredients... while I'm sure goldfish get some bugs and other protien bits, it's not their main source of nutrition, I think it might be good to balance it out with more of a true spirulina flake. Also, throw some anacharis (elodea) in there. It is something that can just float around, will be a constant food source for the fish, as well help a little bit with keeping the tank clean through photosynthesis (obviously not enough to maintain the tank, these guys are pretty messy)

I have come to discover over the years that variety is key to maintaining fish color. Varying between two or three different foods has always worked for me. I like to keep Tetra Min flakes and frozen brine shrimp on hand and then I will every once in a while add some pellets. The point is, I have found variety to be a much bigger influence on fish color than having a food that actually contains a lot of color. I feed mine Tetra Min most of the time and throw in some Brine shrimp every once in a while and have found that the variety makes them happy, and a happy fish is a colorful fish. I have tried exclusively feeding foods that are meant to enhance color and had no luck. Hope this helps and happy fish keeping.

I don't have an oscar to help with experience, but what I do know for their growth depends on one main factor.

The size of their tank is as much a factor for large growth as food: the bigger the tank the larger they will grow. Other than that, just feed them a good staple (advised type) food.
