Thank you for your question. Most of the bacterial additives are comparable. There is not one that is considered "the best" as different people have different experiences with different products. We recommend the Water Repair Series: Colonize. We have provided a link to this below.

For established aquariums the dosage is as follows:

To maintain clean water and proper biological filtration, add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Water Repair Series Colonize for each 10 U.S. gallons (40 L) each week. 16 oz treats up to 960 gallons. 64 oz treats up to 3,840 gallons.

If you are using a combo bacterial additive like ProBiodigest, do you still use others? Can't they interact badly?

For instance, would you still use chemical phosphate removers, nitrate resins, or would they be unecessay or excessive? How do you know when you've put in too many? Do you need to remove carbon? Etcetera.......

Answer:

Thank you for your question. While it is not necessary to dose more than one bacterial additive at a time, it would not be harmful. Chemical phosphate removers or nitrate resins would not be necessary, unless these parameters are still high. It is not recommended to remove carbon while dosing bacterial additives.
