can I use kitty litter in my ferret cage? It's hard to find the ferret bedding in my area.

NO not cat clay litter BUT if theres corn cat litter it would be fine like worlds best cat liter wood be good it's just corn or you could order ferret litter from DRS

It is not a good idea. Clay litter is not even good for cats but is even worse for ferrets. Because of the way their feet are shaped it can become clumped up between their toes and cause sores which can lead to infections. Also ferrets like to dig and burrow, which kitty litter is not conducive to.

Thank you for your question. I have always heard that you shouldn't use cat litter for ferrets, but wanted to get the opinion from our in-house veterinarians. I spoke with them and this is the information they gave me.

We usually don’t recommend kitty litter made out of corn cobs for ferrets, since it can sometimes have mold in it. Clay litter could cause intestinal blockage if the ferret would eat it. We like to use pellets made out of recycled newspaper, such as Marshall Premium Ferret Litter. Kitty litter pellets made out of recycled newspaper would be okay, too. We prefer the unscented variety, if you can find it.

I'm 13 and i'm trying to find a ferret cage under the price of 125.00. I found one with 3 levels, will that be ok for one ferret?

Can I buy replacement metal ramps

I bought a super pet xtra large ferret cage for my first ferrets but the ramps are to slippery for them to climb i cant really afford a new cage and cant return this one. is it possble to buy just metal ramps that would work? what about using skateboard grip tape it has a textured sandpaper like feel could I use it to add grip.

try glueing carpet to them, skateboard paper may be too rough for thier feet.

Metal ramps might work. I'm not familiar with skateboard grip tape, but it seems like if the ramps are a little too slippery some tape with a little grip could help them out. I would just be careful that the tape wasn't so textured/sandpapery that it would hurt the pads of your ferrets feet.

replacement platforms

I have a HUGE, beautiful, brand new cage that I recently purchased for my sugar gliders but it didn't come with any platforms or ramps and I want to transform it into a ferret cage for our new family members. Can't seem to find ANY platforms or ramps anywhere and wonder if you have any ideas where I may be able to find them or how I might be able to make them myself. HELP!
