Do you have hypo-allergenic or "ultra allergenic" wet food for cats?

My vet wants my cat, Jack, on a special diet for 3 months to test for food allergies. The only one she had at the office is z/d, which Jack won't eat. Please advise. Thanks

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet is another solution besides Hill's Z/D. It comes in several flavors: Green Peas & Venison Formula Dry Cat Food, Green Peas and Duck, Green Peas and Rabbit. These foods are used to assist in the management of adverse food reactions because, well think about it, Venison, Duck and Rabbit aren't used in normal cat foods! Plus the goal of food testing is to feed them something they've never had before. The clinic I worked at would offer this brand of food if Z/D was not accepted by the pet. Good luck with the food trial! :)

Suggestions for nutritional wet food.

My 12-year old, nine pound tabby was recently ill. I found out she was dehydrated and required the removal of three teeth. I was informed by the vet she can no longer eat dry food. Currently, along with her kibble, I feed her a half can of wet food daily; however, I want to provide her with an appropriate nutritional soft kibble to prevent weight loss and maintain a good diet. Any suggestions?

My cat went through a very similar thing, caused by dehydration. Cats have a very low thirst drive, so even if they need water, they might not drink. There are a number of things you can do to bring more water into your cat's diet. You can add water to her dry kibble (just make sure you don't leave it out, sitting in the water. This will collect bacteria and harm your cat, so if you leave your cat's food out, this isn't an option). Dry food only has 5 - 10% water; in the wild, the food they eat is approximately 70% water; canned food contains 75% water, making it a much healthier option than dry food. However, I found buying canned food all the time to be pricey, so I started making my own cat food. This is wonderful, because I know what ingredients I'm putting into it and that my cats will remain healthy and well-hydrated. I hope this helps!

I use organic, grain-free wet food. Half a can each for my guys (8 1/2 and 7) at night. Avoderm and B.G. (before Grain) Innova has a great wet food as well.

Yes, but it is a prescription food, that is, it requires to be purchased at a veterenarian's.....it is Hills Science Diet T/D, a dry food which removes tartar, plaque, etc. Very high in calories.....we give it as a daily "treat" to our cats, that is, 2-4 pieces per day.

It does work. NONE of our cats since being put on this have required to have their teeth cleaned. Which, considering that teeth cleaning requires anesthesia, which is dangerous, is a good thing.

Highly recommend ! Ask your vet about getting it.
