Hello, I sent your question on to our vets and this is their response:
Thank you for contacting Doctors Foster and Smith. In general, most birds do not smell, but there are some exceptions. If you notice a strong odor emanating from your parrot, we strongly recommend you have your parrot examined by an avian veterinarian. The veterinarian would determine the source of the odor (body, mouth, feces, etc.) and the underlying cause for the odor (infection, poor hygiene, hormones, etc.). Once this is determined, a course of action or treatment can be initiated. Since birds can become seriously ill very quickly, we recommend an examination with a veterinarian experienced with birds as soon as possible. We hope you find this information helpful and that your parrot is in good health.
