My love bird loves to shred the cash register paper. I get the plain paper rolls. I put the roll on top of her cage and thread it down into the cage. She loves it.

My lovebird loves anything that is noisy or has bells. Also anything he can swing or climb on. I agree with the others though, it is hit and miss.

I have a pair of Peach Faced Lovebirds. They love to shred anything. I often buy their shredding toys from a local pet store. They have toys called, Chinese takeout. It looks like a food take out container stuffed with celophane noodles, dried corn cob husks, paper coin rolls, and other shreddable things.
Dr. Foster and Smith catalog has a toy called a ball cluster, which is actually for a larger bird, but the lovebirds devour it in about three days. They love anything that they can tear apart and spend their days busy destroying their toys as best they can. They love the wicker stuff.
But, those are my birds and what they really seem to enjoy. Lovebirds have such high energy and need to be occupied all of the time. That seems to keep them happy.
Every bird is different, but I think that shreddables are a good place to start.

anything they can shred! avoid blocks of wood larger than popsicle sticks, and look for wicker & woven palm leaf! and size isn't an issue; they'll love to destroy the california roll just as much as the parrot pinata!

little plastic ball with bells (they can hold with their feet), Pinata (to see if your's like to shred), Have you seen his/her chew habits and if so then use that as a way to get a toy that he may like (such as a wood toy with a treat he may have to chew his/her way to), forgaging toys. Sometimes it is a hit and miss and then you find the toys they really like. Different birds like different toys and even the same kinds of birds like different toys.. Good luck..

My female eclectus Hates anything that isn't stable. If she can't get a solid footing, she wont go near it. I have tried hanging ladders, swings, bridges etc. and she will try to break them, but not walk on them! She does occasionally use her spiral rope perch, but she doesn't use it regularly! A lot of the recommendations for the eclectus say medium to large sized toys, but I disagree. She likes toys fit for cockatiels much more. Occasionally she will chew on wood blocks, but for the most part she really enjoys paper, leather, popsicle sticks, wicker, and other easy to destroy toys. I don't know how great these are for her, but she loves plastic baby toys! She loves to tear up thin plastic toys! I know it seems like a money pit, but the way I see it, the faster the toy is completely destroyed, the more she liked it! Good Luck!!!!

My eclectus likes the spiral bungees. It's not exactly a swing but it has movement to it. It is her preferred sleeping area.

My eighteen year old male eclectus will only play with paper toys, but will make a rare exception and bite on wood, if he can pick fit it in his beak. Tearing up paper is his speciality, although he doesn't do it to the papers on the bottom of his cage., thank goodness. He rarely picks up anything with his feet.
I don't have any swings in his cage, so I can't help you out with that.

Pretty much any chewable/foraging toy with palm leaf, wicker, leather, paper, or wood is good. My Eclectus pretty much ignores any pieces of wood he can't really grab on to, though, like the big blocks you find on Macaw toys. He really enjoys those treat puzzles (until he figures them out, haha), and that one toy with the roll of paper in it was a huge hit. Wicker balls with fun or yummy things stuffed inside are good, too. Also, those build-your-own-toy kits are great (half the fun is making the toy together!) and learning toys like the little bank with colorful shapes to put inside are good to have, too. Toys sized for Conures to Amazons are usually the right size for Eclectus.
As for swings and ladders, I can't really say. Mine has never liked either very much.

My blue and golds could give a Ph.D. engineer a run for his money. I have found anything that can be dismantled or unscrewed keeps my guys fascinated. After coming home from work and finding the cage laying in pieces, I invested in a stainless steel box toy that has all kinds of wing nuts, hex nuts, screws, washers, etc. for them to unscrew. No matter how much I tighten everything, both of my guys work religiously to take it apart. I also invested in a cage that has no hardware.

I have a baby Blue and Gold, he is 4 years old, and he likes any thing that he can destroy and colorful, he also likes anything like baby toys that make noises of any kind ( try to make them plastic not rubber) and keep a close eye on them for exposed battery's or leaking battery's, as soon as you see this get rid of it and buy a new one, he also likes the ones with flashing lights. He also likes anything I make myself out of my old clothes that has my sent on it, and maybe tie on some dried fruit for a treat.

two different kinds: big wooden hanging toys they can climb on and chew, like the big ladders etc.
the other thing is toys they can easily destroy in a day or so like bird kabobs. Obviously, that can get expensive, but they love it. Have not had good luck with the pinatas with large macaws, but African Greys love them. I have 3 large macaws and have been keeping them for 10 years.

I just got a blue and gold and he loves colorful plastic toys as he isn't into chewing just yet. But that will come soon. ;) Baby toys like plastic key rings are his fav. so far but that what the breeder gave us for him. Enjoy you baby.

I find the same problem with lots of toys; the larger ones can be intimidating to not-so-outgoing birds. It's fine to get toys designed for smaller birds, but you just have to be careful not to get something that has parts that your bird could swallow or get a toe stuck in, etc. As long as it's safe size-wise, go for any size your bird likes!

For a young GCC, I would say parakeet-sized toys would be fine to start with. I have a lovebird, which isn't much smaller than a greenie, and I generally get small to medium sized toys. If it's shreddable...I typically go larger to help the toys last longer. Just watch for what your baby enjoys and go from there. Trial and error :)
