I’m not sure why your conure is electing to sleep on the floor of the cage. It could mean he is having a foot problem, and should be checked by a veterinarian. That’s the first thing I would do. If your bird’s feet check out OK, it also could mean your bird would like some different types of perches. So, I would try several different kinds, like a rope perch, Manzanita or dragonwood perch, and a safety perch. These will provide different textures and circumferences that will help your bird’s feet. You may also want to provide a bird bunker or snuggle hut, which would be easy on your bird’s feet. In general, I prefer a wire bottom cage with a paper liner underneath the wire for hygiene purposes. - Holly
