LoveBird and abnormal stool

for 3 weeks or more my lovebird's stool is liquidy white ligth green in the middle. Yet he eats and drinks find. Should I take him to the vet.

Answer:

If you feel that your bird's stools are of concern and you haven't changed anything in his diet, then yes, you should take him in to see your vet right away. Here is an article that discusses inspecting your bird's droppings and what is normal and abnormal.

If your bird is showing any symptoms of being sick including lethargy, not eating, sitting low or huddled with or without ruffled feathers, or rattled, wheezy, or open-mouth breathing you should take him in to the vet right away. I hope that your bird is fine, but it is best to err on the side of caution, rather than wait to see if he will get worse or better.

My handicapped Zebra Finch has developed what looks like cradle cap and the skin around her eyes is drawing up exposing her eyeballs.

My vet is clueless as to what this is and how to treat it so based on my nursing experience I have been debriding her head using wet q-tips and then applying a thin film of A&D ointment. I then flush her eyes with a sterile eye wash my vet gave me. She is now bald and I think because she can't really close her eyes she is going blind. She has a better than average diet that includes fresh greens, broccoli, apple and noodles everyday and a treat @ nite of either Quick-O eggs, Snack Attack greens or other seed treat . I rescued this tiny bird when she was just a few months old. She'll be 4 years old around Feb. She cannot stand on a perch as both feet are deformed, she's a poor flyer but she can flit up to her padded corner shelf or her padded nest, both of which are down low. Her legs are now more deformed so she is having more diff. scooting on the bottom of the cage which is laid out with cut up orchard grass. There are no true Avian vets in my area, can you please give me some suggestions? Would Pro-Feda help?

My parakeet's bottom beak looks like it's rotting, it had scaling before this, is this from mites and what can I do to help the bird?

What can I do for sick canaries?

I have few canaries. Every once in a while, when any gets sick, I give them Ornacyn plus powder for a week. Apparently it did not work since I lost two of them last month. One was two years old, and one from this spring litter. Symptoms are lack of movement, sitting on bottom of cage and eating very little. Please help.
