Which beak conditioner perch is most effective at wearing down nails?

I am so far leaning towards the Safety Perch. I have a rescued military macaw that has overgrown nails. He is too skittish for me to trim his nails yet, and if possible, I would like to spare him the trauma of a 3-hour trip to the vet and being restrained. I am working with him clicker training, which is doing a good job of building our rapport, but we aren't at nail-trimming point yet.

safety pumice perch by far. never had to trim my amazons nails. he loves these perches. i have three in his cage at all times each a different size.

How can I encourage my conure to use his beak conditioners?

My Sun Conure, continually has an overgrown beak. He really does not use his mineral block or his cuttlebone very much.... He only eats a pelleted extruded diet, such as Zupreem and Lafebers Nutriberries and his fruits and veggies.
So, naturally, I made another appointment for my bird to see the Veterinarian for yet another beak trim. Do I just need to buy more beak conditioners?

Thank you for your question. Overgrown beak can be a sign of health problems, but if your veterinarian has been seeing your bird for beak trims and doesn't voice any concerns there are things you can do at home to help keep your bird's beak trim.

What can I do about a nanday parrot that broke the end of his beak?

Is there any antibiotics or some type of medication to use on the beak to keep it from bleeding so much?

Although this was 4 months ago, I am hoping that you took your bird in to see their veterinarian. All birds with beak injuries should be examined by a veterinarian. When there is bleeding from the beak the hemorrhage needs to be stopped, which needs to be done by a veterinarian. I hope your bird is doing okay.

I would recommend an examination by your veterinarian. We also encourage you to feed your bird a balanced, pelleted diet. This would eliminate any insecurity regarding nutritional deficits.
