Feeding Guidelines

Use a standard 8 oz. liquid measuring cup. An 8 oz. cup = 4.4 oz. by weight.

For puppies from weaning to 6 months, divide the daily amount into at least 3 meals. From 6 to 18 months, divide the daily amount into at least 2 meals. Puppy formula may be moistened with water at weaning to encourage your puppy to eat.

Your puppy's requirements may vary from the above feeding guide. Weigh your puppy monthly, consult with your veterinarian and adjust quantities as necessary to maintain optimal weight.

If feeding Drs. Foster & Smith puppy food for the first time, gradually adjust your puppy's current diet to avoid stomach upset. Mix 1/4 part Drs. Foster & Smith food with current food for 2-3 days. Gradually increase the new food and decrease current food over 7-10 days until you are feeding all Drs. Foster & Smith food. Keep fresh drinking water available at all times.

My 6 month old Westie was prescribed one month ago Omega 3 & 6 fatty acid Supplements due to her dry coat. After searching & researching all available dry puppy food I came across this product. I wanted to order it but worried about running out & waiting for deliveries. Thankfully this product is now available at Target. I ran out last week and bought the smaller bag to see if she'd like it. Yum--she dove right in and ate it all!! I have a 10 month old Westie that just would not eat well. I found the Drs. puppy food formula, checking for by-products and the like that bother Westie skin, and I decided to try it. My little guy LOVES IT and it is not a concern as to what he is eating or how much he is not eating. The breeder of Murphy, our American mastiff, recommended another brand for him to eat exclussively until he was two years old to ensure proper growth. He never really liked the food, always had a lot of gas, and had a dull and brittle coat. In May 2006, we adopted Annie, an epileptic German Shepherd mix, whose requirements are quite strict. Their coats are 100% improved! Our two sheltie pups - Bert and Ernie - absolutely LOVE this food! We had been feeding another brand, but neither of the dogs seemed very enthusiastic about it, and didn't always finish their food. Our Rat Terrier puppy loves this food. We switched him over from the food the breeder was using. We mixed to help him adjust. Even after mixing, he would eat Drs. Foster & Smith food first and the other food after. His coat is amazing... very shiny. I definitely recommend this food.

This food had done remarkable things for my giant Schnauzer puppy, who previously had soft stools and irritable bowels due to the high gluten content found in so many other dog foods on the market. My black lab puppy (5 mo.) has been eating this food for 2 months now and has the smoothest, shiniest coat I've ever seen. We get compliments on his coat all the time. I plan to feed him the puppy food at least for the first year if not longer (since he's a large breed). The breeder suggested puppy chow and I looked at the ingredients and promptly went to the Foster Smith website. I feed my older lab the adult food and she loves it. She too has a beautiful coat.
