This a great product
I had one of these locking crocks for a number of years - it came with a bird I adopted. It fell and cracked, and when I went looking for a replacement, was happy to find this product at Doctors Foster and Smith's web site. I ordered several. It's ideal for my Senegal parrot who delights in dumping his water dishes, no matter how heavy they are.
I use these crocks for seed/extra seed or treats, also, and it's a great and useful product.

Easy to use + no spills = ferret worthy!
When I first adopted my ferrets they were used to eating out of free standing bowls. This did NOT work. One would always knock over the food, another would spill over the water and we ended up wasting half their food. I then bought some lockable bowls from the pet store- the kind that attached to the wall of the cage and you just unscrew the bowl itself to remove and fill. These were ok- but in order to get the bowl back in you had to line up parts on the bottom of the bowl with the anchor and doing this was very trying with three ferrets hanging on your every move! A no-go.
Next we bought these smart lock crocks. Perfect!! I love that they are clear, so I can always see how much food and water they have. They also come in a variety of sizes- this was a very welcome feature. Getting these crocks in and out of the cage is all too easy. Literally just the crock and the screw on cap- both visible! I can get these in and out of the cage in seconds, even with ferts crawling on my arms. I have a ferret nation cage and these fit perfectly. A great height for my boys.
Bottom line- they are clear, simple to use, no spills, easy to clean and even my kids can work with them.

Attractive and Easy
I am very happy with the locking smart crock- I use it for my ferrets' water. It is SO easy to attach and detach which is important for a water bowl that needs regular cleaning and refilling. I also love the aesthetic aspect of the bowl. The clear plastic looks nice, shows when it needs cleaning, and I love being able to see through the sides when my ferrets "go fishing."
My only warning would be for cages with little space between the bars- it may not fit. I bought the largest size and it barely fits through my cage bars, but this might be different for smaller sizes. I have the Marshalls ferret penthouse. It also will not hold itself completely upright (but also might be because of size/weight of mine filled with water), so you will need to attach it to be sitting on a level. My ferrets love it!
