We have Pot-Bellied Pigs (6 of them). This past summer was extremely dry, no rain for months. Our pig's hooves dried out and they started cracking vertically up the length of their hooves. We tried a brush on hoof sealant from a different Company. The product had a very strong scent to it. Pigs have a strong sense of smell and the only strong scent they might tolerate has to be food related!! :) We were able to brush it on one hoof of one pig before she wrestled out of my husband's arms and ran away screaming her head off. The others wouldn't let us do anything once the product was opened, before they also ran off screaming. We purchased Horseshoer's Secret in the form of pellets some time back (amount reduced relative to each pig's weight). They loved it. It has worked quite well, but not with this past summer's drought. We are trying to find a hoof sealant that does not have such a strong scent. It also can't smell like any kind of food or they will climb all over us to try to eat it. Does this sealant or any you know of not have a strong scent or smell like food? The pigs hooves aren't very far from their nose, so it is a big issue. Thanks.
