The Product does a great job and is easy to use.
Had a different manufacturers filter for many years but unfortunately it came to the end of its life. Had no experience with the Fish Mate product line and will say that I am more than satisfied with the quality of it and I like the UV feature that is built in. It was easy to install and very easy to service. I would highly recommend it for an avid pond lover, my water is crystal clear and the Koi are thriving.

Very Satisfied with Product and Service
My pond is approximately 1300 gallons, built in the 1930's I have used my own design filter for eight years, I am an engineer, but this year I decided to look for something better. Although I mucked out the pond in the spring, cleaned the self designed filter I was getting turbid water.
I researched and decided on this filter (designed for a 2000 gal pond). Packaged very nicely, great instructions, but I observed a defective UV light (filament on the bottom, and the power on test was negative). Contacted this supplier and they immediately shipped a new bulb at no cost. I have not installed it yet.
The installation by me included intending to sink a 5 gal bucket and placing the perfectly shaped filter in it. Local tree roots prevented me. I was able to non obtrusively put it behind the rock waterfall. I needed about ten feet of hose, five clamps, to complete the project. I modified the design by adding length of house to the filter clean discharge and a ball valve. You must open the ball valve before doing the clean cycle. This way you don't have to switch hoses.
Installation is neat and hidden. It works perfectly.
The pond that was disappointingly turbid (i.e. murky) cleaned up in three days to near swimming pool quality. I am familiar with bio reactors and it hasn't had time to build up and effect quality. The cleaning up is through mechanical filtration. As we (in Massachusetts) are in the start of the Summer I haven't really needed the UV light to kill algae yet.
Its only seven days in service, but it fully met my expectations, and has exceeded my expectations for cleanup.

I have been using the Bio filter for 3 weeks. I am very pleased with its performance. The water is clear. Any algae that existed on the perimeter of my pond is disappearing. And the backwash feature is great. Saving me a lot of time and contortions. For my needs the Bio filter fills the bill. I would recommend it to anyone considering purchasing this type of filter for their pond.
