Seachem Neutral Regulator 250 g 5 5 4 4

Excellent Buffer! I use Neutral Regulator in combination with SeaChem's Discus Buffer to target the exact ph I want for my angelfish breeding project. Angelfish prefer slightly acidic water and my local tapwater is very alkaline (ph over 8.0!). After experimenting a little I found just the right combo of Discus Buffer and Neutral Regulator to hit that perfect ph of 6.7 for my angelfish tanks. And it holds it there until my next water change! Before I started using DB and NR my ph was constantly swinging... first way too high then it would crash! Not the ideal environment for ANY fish let alone breeding angelfish. These products made my life and the lives of my fish easier and happier! November 1, 2012

This product has proven to be excellent, which I have been using for years! I have been using this product for many years now. I have not found myself in a position where it has failed me. I am also pleased with the cost, and services I have received from Dr foster & Smith. July 20, 2012

Great PH lifesaver for my fish I use to have alot of problems with PH swings due to living in a city with high PH water supply, after using Seachem's Neutral Regulator I no longer have any PH swings and the fish are doing better. This product does produce a little dust and makes the water a little cloudy, but it quickly goes away after a few cycles through the filter. August 21, 2011

Does this product have phosphates in it?

I am wondering if this product uses phosphates which would increase algae in my pond/aquarium?

Thank you for your question. Seachem Neutral Regulator contains phosphate based compounds as the buffering agent. According to the manufacturer, algae growth is dependent on a number of factors, such as the type of light and intensity of light. Typical freshwater aquarium lights designed for fish only or plastic plant tanks are mostly low intensity and heavy in the red spectrum (to enhance reds in fish) and do not support either plant or algae growth effectively. Neutral Regulator has been in wide use in freshwater tanks for nearly twenty years with virtually no complaints of algae growth. That does not mean it cannot happen. Other factors being present, such as high nitrate, high organics, exposure to sunlight or other strong sources of light, the added presence of phosphate will be another contributing factor. However, even with no measurable phosphate, if the other factors are present, algae growth will take place. Algae problems do not arise from a single contributing factor. The operative word is "contributing."

I have very hard water. I added this product in. How long does it take for a 12 gallon tank to get to the neutral ph? The ph level is still too high.

Thank you for your question. Use 1 level teaspoon for every 10 to 20 gallons once or twice a month (or as necessary to maintain a pH of 7.0.) We suggest testing the water before adding this product.
