Rated 5 out of 5 by sharilynn AWESOME PRODUCT!!
For two years I have fought Sparrows in "Bluebird Houses" with round holes. I happened to see these on the Foster & Smith Website and purchased three of them. We received them right away! We put them out and by the end of the day had Blue Birds building nests in two of them!
We also received a booklet on Blue Birds that is very informative.
Reasonably priced!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE!! VERY PLEASED!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by birdwatchers2 SAFER THAN THE OTHER BIRD HOUSES
While the other birdhouses I purchased here are more attractive, they are not as safe as this birdhouse. The birdhouses are all described as rough on the inside so the birds can climb out ... BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. The wood on the inside is as smooth as the outside, trapping the birds inside. So far I have found 2 dead birds in the other birdhouses. I certainly wish I had not rated the other birdhouses with the great rating that I gave them. This birdhouse is shorter so the nest is higher, making access to the hole possible. It is, however, not sparrow resistant. Sparrows are living in it now. I gave it a high rating because it is safer, and the birds don't die inside. I have since altered all the other birdhouses I purchased, adding blocks of wood to the bottom so the birds can get back out. All of these birdhouses should have been made using rough wood on the inside.

I had purchased one for myself in the past and was pleased with the construction, and that the birds used it immediately. This purchase was as a gift for my Aunt.

by McNert Bluebirds Love it!
I was just amazed with this birdhouse. I had not seen a bluebird at all this year until I put up my new bluebird house. Low and behold it wasn't more than two days when I saw a male and female bluebird checking out the house. Sure enough they began building their nest. I now have 5 eggs in the nest waiting to hatch. Can't wait....The house sparrow took over one of my bluebird houses, so that is why I decided to give the sparrow-resistant house a try and as you can see from the photo, taken on 6-8-14 that is works. Thanks Dr. Foster and Smith...
