Answer:
osang828,
Thank you for your question. The manufacturer has provided us with the following information as to why staining has not been reported for this product:
“Chlorhexidine gluconate is effective broad spectrum antibacterial agent with a residual effect after use (meaning the antibacterial effect continues after use). This prolonged bacteriostatic (prevention of bacterial growth) is why it is a preferred treatment for dental issues. This antibacterial action can help reduce dental plaque made by bacteria thus contributing to the gum health. Reduction of bacteria in the mouth may also help with reducing bad breath caused by such bacteria.
Chlorhexidine gluconate can cause a slight brown stain to the teeth after prolonged use. This staining does not occur in every animal or human using the product. Staining is also more attributed to oral rinses rather than topical use, which may be why we have to not had any consumer complaints on this issue. However, if staining occurs and is bothersome to the owner, the stain can be removed by polishing. If staining is occurring, the consumer can also use the product intermittently.”
