Compounding medications
Ferrets, who generally weigh between 1 and 5 lbs, are often too small even for cat dosage amounts. Ferrets often need prescription medications compounded for them in special dosage forms or sizes. Good news - our own compounding pharmacy can cater to your ferret's needs. With a prescription from your veterinarian, our pharmacy can not only provide the correct dosage, we can also flavor medications so they're more palatable to your ferret (much easier to give!). Medications are generally compounded into oral liquid forms and treat-like bits such as our Animelts® or Gummie Chews, forms ferrets like best. And, the costs are comparable to non-compounded forms, and well worth the initial effort. |
